  • Q I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. What exercise should I be doing?
  • A Osteoporosis - or brittle bone disease - involves a loss of bone density, and is an extremely common disease which frequently affects men and women over the age of 50. Impact activities such as walking, jogging and running are excellent for preventing osteoporosis because these types of impact strengthen the skeleton. However, if your condition is advanced, these activities may be unsuitable. Also, before embarking on any training programme, make sure you consult your doctor, who will be able to advise you on the most suitable activities that are relevant to the severity of your condition.
