  • Q I recently got sunburned during a long run. What is the best way to protect my skin from the sun?
  • A Sunburn is a dangerous and painful condition and should be prevented at all times. There are many strategies that you can employ, including: 1. Running early in the morning or later in the evening when the sun is weaker. 2. Choosing shaded running routes - for instance routes through parks or forests. 3. Wearing sunblock or a high-sun-protection-factor suncream. 4. Keeping areas such as your shoulders and neck covered with a t-shirt and hat. 5. Carrying out some of your training sessions on a treadmill at the gym, where the sun is not a problem. 6. Reducing the duration of your runs when the weather is very hot.
