  • Q I do a standard 45 minute weights workout twice a week but I haven't improved in months; what am I doing wrong?
  • A To facilitate continued adaptation and progression within any training programme, it is important to continually vary the training stimulus so that the body has to constantly adapt to the different training loads. Hence if you are not improving then you have hit a plateau in your workout because you are doing the same exercises, the same way, every time you train. The trick is to constantly vary your exercises, your sets and your repetitions so that your body is continually stimulated and challenged to adapt and then you will find that when you return to some of your ‘standard' exercises, you will have improved.
