  • Q I'd like to start cycling for fitness, where is it best to train: road, off-road or the bikes at the gym?
  • A Cycling is excellent for cardiovascular fitness and leg strength, wherever you do it but you can enjoy different benefits depending on where and how you cycle. Off-road cycling requires extra balance and coordination and the shorter, steeper climbs can provide a very challenging workout. Road cycling tends to be more endurance based, covering longer distances. Cycling on a stationary bike can also give you a good workout but if you really want to progress your fitness then consider taking a spinning class which includes a little of everything: endurance, strength, speed – and all in a fun, motivating group training environment!
