  • Q Can I train too much? I try and exercise every day.
  • A Regular exercise is vital for your long-term health and fitness but equally, your body needs recovery so that you don't suffer from overtraining syndrome. Overtraining can result in illness and/or injury because your body doesn't have the opportunity to recover from your workouts, eventually leading to problems. It is only when you are resting that your body is able to adapt and rebuild following exercise and if you work out every day, you are neglecting the most important component of your training programme – rest. Take at least one day off from exercise each week – more if you feel tired or run down and you will find that your performances won’t suffer, in fact they will probably improve.
