  • Q Is it better to run on- or off-road?
  • A Whether you are training on the roads or the trails, running is a fantastic way to work out - but off-road training is increasing in popularity as runners look to 'get back to nature' and seek out a more rugged training experience. One of the great advantages of hitting the trails is that the constantly varying surface and topography of most off-road routes challenges your body more and also builds all-round strength in the ankles and knees. Additionally, the softer surface is more forgiving on your joints. So, try to include at least one off-road session each week in your running programme.
