  • Q What is the best way to judge my pace during the race?
  • A Pace judgement is a very important skill to master, because if you set off too fast it can make your race more difficult later on, whereas if you start too slowly you won't achieve the finishing time that you are capable of. Almost every race displays distance markers at the side of the road throughout the course in either miles or kilometres, and you can check these against your own stopwatch time in order to monitor how you are progressing. It can also be extremely beneficial to practice even-paced running when you are training, so that by race day your mind and body will be tuned into the correct pace for your race distance.
