  • Q I'm not used to running in a large crowd. Are there any precautions that I should take for the race?
  • A Running in a race is quite different to training alone or with a couple of friends because you can often be completely surrounded by runners for the entire race distance. So, when you are running in a large field you need to be aware of other runners and avoid dramatically changing direction, which could cause a collision - particularly at the more congested points such as when you're approaching a drinks station. Otherwise, running in a busy race can be extremely beneficial, as you will get some shelter from the wind, in addition to getting help with your pacing and gaining a positive feeling of camaraderie as you all strive towards the finish together.
