  • Q I have heard conflicting advice about when to stretch. When is the best time to stretch my muscles?
  • A You should only ever stretch your muscles after they are fully warmed up, so that you avoid causing an injury from trying to stretch a cold, inelastic muscle. The best time to carry out flexibility exercises is at the end of your exercise session as part of your cool-down, because you will be thoroughly warmed up by then and also more relaxed because your session is over - and a relaxed muscle is far easier to stretch!
