  • Q I am suffering from athlete's foot. It's really itchy and is painful when I train. Is there anything I can do?
  • A Athlete's foot is a fungal infection of the foot and toes, causing redness, itching, loss of skin and a burning sensation. The condition is usually picked up by contact with another sufferer, often in communal showers. The best course of treatment is to ensure your feet are kept clean and dry, frequently change your shoes and socks, and apply anti-fungal creams and powders. To avoid reoccurrence, make sure you thoroughly dry your feet after bathing and wear clean, dry socks, as this will limit the opportunity for the fungi that cause athlete's foot to grow. Wearing flip-flops in communal showers is also good practice.
