  • Q After a race or long training run, I often suffer from a bruised and painful toe. Is there anything that I can do?
  • A 'Runner's toe' is a common problem where one or more toes strike against the inside of the shoe, which can cause pain and often also the loss of the toenail(s). This problem usually occurs during longer training runs when the feet gradually heat up and expand, resulting in less space within the shoe. The solution is to choose correctly fitting shoes and be prepared to adjust them mid-run. In this way, as the foot expands it will have enough room to move.
