  • Q What should I eat and drink after my run?
  • A Immediately after your run, the ideal thing to consume is a sports energy drink, as this will provide you with energy that you've lost during your run - as well as start to rehydrate you straight away. Your body is super-receptive to refuelling during the first 15 minutes after exercise - so make sure you consume your drink during this time. Do not drink large amounts of water after finishing a race. Also, within two hours of finishing exercising, you should consume a substantial meal comprising some 'slow release' carbohydrate for energy, together with some protein for rebuilding. Pasta and tuna is an ideal combination.
