  • Q I recently picked up a verucca on the sole of my foot, but it isn't causing me any problems. Should I be doing anything about it?
  • A A verucca is a wart-like structure caused by a virus, and is easily picked up in swimming pools and communal showers. Over time, the verucca can become very established in the foot with a deep root, and can cause considerable discomfort. Even when it causes no discomfort at all, though, it should be tackled immediately. There are numerous proprietary creams and gels available over the counter in chemists - but if the problem persists, it will be necessary to visit your doctor or a chiropodist for treatment.
