  • Q How can I train properly through the winter months?
  • A Depending on the timing of your event, it makes sense to try and train to some extent through the winter months. Cycling doesn’t have to stop just because of winter’s arrival. With the right gear and your bike set up for winter use – with mudguards, better gripping and more puncture resistant tyres – you can usually continue through the majority of wintry conditions. Consider buying a turbo trainer so you can cycle indoors, or you could make use of the stationary bike, or even spinning sessions in your local gym. Another alternative is to cross train with non-cycling activities to at least maintain your cardiovascular fitness.
