  • Q What should I eat and drink on a ride?
  • A What you eat and drink on a ride will very much depends on the length and difficulty of your ride. Before you start your ride you should consume a carbohydrate-rich meal. If you are planning on riding for more than an hour then you need to take along some food and drink to top up your fuel reserves. Most bikes will have facility to add carriages for two drinks bottles and you can fill these with water with one or two hydration tablets which contain useful electrolytes. Some energy gels and bars are also useful. If your actual challenge ride is over a longer period of time where you are unable to carry all the food/drink you’ll need then you will need to think about where you will fuel up or even consider having a support vehicle on standby with fuel reserves for you, especially if you are on a multi-day event.
